Here at Autosolutions we believe in doing our homework. So that being said,
we are going to help you do your homework before you purchase or sell a used
vehicle. We will assist you on how to make your purchase and how to sell
your vehicle the fastest way possible. Here are some tips in helping you
make your decision making process a little bit easier.
1.Picture of your car
2.Description
3.Pricing
4.Car Poster
5.Meeting with potential buyers
6.Getting payment
7.Transferring Ownership
1.Picture of your car
Pictures say a thousand words, without it, many
potential buyers will ignore your add and move on to ones that have a
picture. Getting the car to look its best for the picture will get you the
best results. If your car is dirty, the first impression will be that you
don't maintain the car. Ads with pictures have 4 times the success of
those without.
2. Description
Use an appealing description that will tell buyers that your car is reliable
and would be a good buy. Be sure to mention any extra maintenance, warranty
and receipts.
3. Pricing
Pricing your vehicle competitively is a must. Check prices on our
Autosolutions site to find the book value of your car and similar type of car
selling on our site. This is what your vehicle is competing against. Be sure
to add an O.B.O, this will let people call even if they are
not happy with
your price.
4. Car Poster
Using our free advertising will soon get you on your way of selling your car
much faster. But what will increase your chances of selling your car is if
you put our sign on your window. It will tell people your car is for sale
and they can view it on our free website.
5. Meeting with potential buyers
When speaking to people on the phone, try to be as nice as possible. Nobody wants
to buy a car from an angry person. If they can not get there on
their own consider meeting them somewhere other than your home. If you can we
suggested bring someone that you know along with you.
If they ask to test
drive your car alone and you don not feel comfortable with that situation. Don't! It is your car and you have the right to be there next to him/her.
Be sure to check the person's drivers license validity (http://www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca/saaqclic/en/public/checkdriverlicence/index.php)
Before you hand over
the keys to them. You can also call the SAAQ from anywhere in Canada at
1-800-361-7620.
When your driving with
the buyer be sure to point out all the good points about the car and be sure
to be honest. If there is something wrong with your vehicle then mention it
and adjust the price accordingly to be fair.
6. Getting Payment
Dealing with people over the internet has opened doors for scammers that
were never there before, giving them more options. So be careful when
accepting your payment. Try to follow these steps to make your self less
vulnerable.
-Confirm with the bank
that the check is valid. Be sure to be prepared with bank
information, asks the
buyer to provide to you which bank that he/she deals with.
-Not always possible
to go to the bank with the prospective buyer to verify the
cheque's
authenticity.
-If a buyer wants to
pay with a money order be sure it's from a local institution
that you can verify
its authenticity.
-If your don not like
the above options you could always specify that you prefer
cash.
7. Transferring Ownership
Go to one of the SAAQ’s
service outlets (http://www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca/en/search/find_service.php),
along with the buyer of your vehicle. You must have proof of identification,
preferably your drivers license and the registration certificate for the
vehicle you are selling.
Write down your
vehicle
's odometer reading. This information is required for the transfer
of property.
Important for
seller!
If you have been
issued a fine for violation of the
Highway Safety Code
or a municipal traffic or parking bylaw? You must pay the fine as soon as
possible, otherwise you will be unable to sell a vehicle registered in your
name because the buyer will be unable to register the vehicle and the sale
will not be valid.
